“Yamagata Marugoto-kan Beni-no-kura” has functions of offering French food made from vegetables and fruits grown in Yamagata city, selling fresh and reliable vegetables and fruits grown in Yamagata city, and traditional crafts, planning and holding seasonal events, and giving tourist information. You will be satisfied with our services.
Storehouses in “Beni-no-kura” were owned by a major safflower merchant, Hasegawa family. Based on the idea of creating new value, using advantage of the history and the culture of Yamagata city, our goal is to rediscover and promote value of local resources in Yamagata city, revitalizing downtown of Yamagata city, and strengthening function as a tourist information center.

You will find delicious buckwheat soba noodle which a chef of the restaurant makes based on the golden principle of serving soba: grinding buckwheat, kneading dough, and boiling noodle as fast as possible before serving.
A soba restaurant serves handmade soba noodle, grinding special varieties of buckwheat, “Dewakaori” and “Mogamiwase” grown in Yamagata prefecture every morning. Please taste fragrant soba noodles prepared with delicious water of Yamagata. There is a storehouse next to main house which maximum capacity is 30 guests. You can hold any kind of party such as celebrations and memorial gatherings here. We look forward serving you our fine soba, local cuisine and local Japanese sake.

The Cafe & Dinning “990” is a café restaurant which serves French cuisine and variety of western desserts on Japanese plates. Once you step inside the building, you will see the modern interiors with large windows and high ceilings. We provide not only tasty meals but also a cozy place with hospitality.
We offer dishes made of locally produced foods with a good quality and safety. In collaboration with chefs from long-established Japanese confectioners and famous patisseries, you can also enjoy creative desserts with each seasons.

“Agrarasshai” is a phrase meaning, “please help yourself” or “please come in” in a dialect of Yamagata region. The store sells hand crafts, delicious products to tourists and local citizens. All products are specially selected seasonal pickles, handcrafts, Japanese sake and confectionary.
You will experience an atmosphere that approximately 100 years old storehouse establishes with its an open-timbered roof and paper doors, which is a proof of the prosperity by the safflower trade in the Edo period.

We sell fresh local vegetable and fruits produced in a careful manner by local farmers. You will also find traditional and familiar vegetable among local people which farmers in Yamagata preserved its seeds from generation to generation.
